Did Altec ever put "wings" on the 828 (A7) cabinet?
If so, does anyone have the proper dimensions? Drawing, perhaps?
Thanks,
Dave

Greets!
Yes, on the original A800: http://www.lansingheritage.org/html/...eakers/800.htm
42" x 10" side panels and (2) 15" x 25" top panels 5/8" thick, simply braced with 2 x 3 studs. For HIFI they should be somewhat more rigid/massive just as the cabs. The horn is too high up for HIFI, so it can either be installed in the baffle and use digital delay or oversize the opening and fabricate an adapter throat. I just added 2 ft wide wings to actually get a little lower F6.
Here's a poor pic of a ~pristine pair in storage I tried to buy some years ago that shows the bracing:

I've seen wings on regular A-7's. Don't know if they were done by installer or if factory ever made them.

Thanks, Guys!
I'll most likely, just do the side panels, as in the photo.
By the way, Beautiful speaker!!!
